Irv Finkelstein, LCSW, 
ADHD Family Counseling Center of Central, NJ  

Irv Finkelstein is a psychotherapist with over twenty years of experience assisting individuals, families couples and groups. He received a Masters of Social Work degree from Hunter School of Social Work in 1978. He has worked extensively in the areas of Developmental Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and Substance Abuse Treatment. Mr. Finkelstein has contributed to numerous publications and has been a frequent speaker to parent, school, and professional organizations. He maintains a full-time private practice in Westfield, NJ, and continues to provide workshops and trainings for parents and professionals.

FEBRUARY

How does the education system really work when your child needs extra supports?

At LDA SPF we decided the best way to provide answers to you is to have  Resource Teachers & Specialists give it to you straight

LDA SPF is pleased to welcome  

Mr. Robert Zaremba has been teaching in Scotch Plains/Fanwood since 1974.  He taught the sixth, fifth, and fourth grade at Brunner before moving to the Resource Center in the 1979/1980 school year.  He has taught special education in both Evergreen and Brunner. 

Ms. Vicki Price-Pennino has been teaching since 1977.  She began in the regular classroom in southern California teaching at a variety of grade levels, and moved into special education in 1980.  When moving to New Jersey in 1982 she taught at School One and McGinn as a Communication Handicapped Teacher.  She began as a Resource Center teacher in 1995 at Brunner.

Ms. Ella Greenberg has been teaching both regular and special education since 1978.  She first taught in Toronto, Canada and then in New Jersey at The Children's Institute, Sundance School and at Brunner School since 1995. 

These are seasoned teachers from the district with over  80 combined years of teaching experience in both regular and special educational settings. Each will explain how they teach, strategies that work and make suggestions for in and out of the classrooms on all grade levels.

The evening will continue with a panel discussion for parents. At this time all Questions, Answers and specific situations can be addressed. The meeting is free and all are invited to attend.

Melissa C. Fedosh, OTR                                        Summit Speech School

Melissa C. Fedosh is an Occupational Therapist with 10 years experience.   Working in many public and private school settings throughout New Jersey, Ms. Fedosh's areas of expertise include Sensory Integration, NDT and Vision Screenings/Therapy.  Currently Ms. Fedosh is working on her Yoga training certification.  

Some of the schools and agencies she has provided services at include, The Morris-Union Jointure Commission, Cranford Public Schools, Millburn Public School, Scotch Plains / Fanwood Public School, Therapeutic Rehabilitation Services.   

She has also provided instruction at workshops to the teachers at the Union County Education Services Commission on Fine Motor Development and Sensory Integration.   

Ms. Fedosh enjoys working with children of all ages and their parents.

LDA SP-F  Special Awards Ceremony & Recognition Night

This is where Parents, Teachers but most of all, Students will be recognized for their efforts, hard work & achievements throughout the school year. Our children are not unlike this iceberg...there is much more to them than just appears on the surface. They may be challenged or have learning differences, but, as a child, so did Professor Albert Einstein. The future for them is wide open. We believe in them and their abilities, for within their challenge, they will find their greatest strengths and successes!

The awards will be distributed in the auditorium and then there will be a truly entertaining Science - Magic show after the ceremonies. This show will be held in the cafeteria where delicious drinks and refreshments  will be available, at no charge, throughout the evening. Later, A fantastic Karate participation demo will take place in the Gym, right next door to the cafeteria.This will be an exciting evening for all.

Ad space on our Official Program is currently available for businesses, professions and well wishers who want to support these hard working, fabulous kids who try so hard.  LDA-SPF works closely with, but is not limited to the school district's Department of Special Services, Parent-Teacher Associations, Resolve and the Municiple Alliance Committee. LDA-SPF is a separate, non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the welfare of every student with a learning difference and challenge.
