Statewide Special Education Conference

ABOUT OUR CONFERENCE

On behalf of the Learning Disability Association of Scotch Plains, Fanwood, I would like to welcome you to this upcoming educational conference. For the past year, the officers and members of this Association have been working diligently to bring you an exciting, progressive program designed for both the educational professional and the interested parent. I believe that this conference may well be one of the most informative and important meetings on the subject of children with individual learning differences and the next step in continuity education. Here you’ll find the innovative approaches.

New tools, new methods, new ideas and new advances to solve this ever increasing problem will be discussed and examined. New techniques, inventions and discoveries will be explained and demonstrated. Merchants, schools, special colleges, special technology and many organizations will be exhibiting their services and products designed to aid our children with special needs to achieve success as they transition through school and into life.

As educators and/or as parents, this is the place and time to find out how you can plan for your children’s future, including a workshop on financial planning.  Here and now you can find out what can be done and how to do it!

We have been fortunate to attract a great number of exceptionally qualified speakers and workshop leaders. Many of whom are nationally known, exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining as well.  Please be sure to respond early to both reserve your space and save money. We are limited in space and participation must be a first come first serve basis.

We have also been able to acquire permission to rebroadcast the excellent PBS Show "Misunderstood Minds" during our entire conference. This is a wonderful show demonstrating some specific cases of children with learning differences. It gives you a first hand experience of what they and their families are going through.  Admission is free for all but seating is extremely limited. In addition, we are going to give you the experience of seeing, hearing and feeling just what it's like to have some of these disabilities by using a special website program which simulates what our children go through. Don't miss this...it will open your eyes and...your heart!

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy our coming conference. We are offering accredited CEU’s for attendees who need to maintain their educational requirements. Again, at the risk of being redundant, I would strongly recommend that you pre-register as early as possible for we are limited in space. We can only accept a limited number of attendees for the general conference and for workshops. Workshops will run concurrently, so pick your workshops early to be sure to get the workshops of your choice. A complete listing of workshops, times and presenters is listed on our website. Please check our workshop list to choose which workshops you wish to attend.

I am eagerly looking forward to greeting you at this very special meeting.

Sincerely,

Susan Ibarra
