About the Learning Disabilities Association of Scotch Plains-Fanwood
The LDA SPF is a support and resource group for families with children who have learning differences. We are dedicated to the welfare of every student with a learning challenge. The organization’s objective is to help families in the home, school and community environments. The LDA SPF works closely with the school district’s Department of Special Services and Parent-Teacher Association, but it is a separate, non-profit, volunteer organization. When We Meet

LDA SPF offers meetings twice a month. All meetings are open to ALL parents, members and non members: Whether your child is fully classified or not If your child is receiving ANY ancillary services. This includes but is not limited to: * Speech * Resource Center * Basic Skills * In Class Support * Reading Recovery * Occupational Therapy * Private or Group Counseling Services When
services are being provided through Section 504 If a
child is PSD (Pre-School Disabled) If your child attends school out of district When a child attends a Title 1 classOur meetings usually take place at the various schools in Scotch Plains-Fanwood and are announced accordingly. |
Information not Speculation

The first monthly meeting offers support for parents. Parents are welcome to come and ask questions, share their ideas and strategies that have helped them and offer support to fellow parents struggling to help their children in many areas, i.e. Homework Issues, Time Management, Study Skills, Organization, Test Preparation, Peer to Peer Relations, Role Playing, etc. This meeting takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. Click here for time and place. The next monthly meeting is a program of information and education. Outside speakers are many and have included, but are not limited to Learning Consultants, Parent Advocates, Attorneys, Doctors, Therapists and Specialists. Again, our website will have the time, place, subject and speaker information. ALL contact is confidential and at NO TIME is your information shared or revealed to ANYONE by LDA SPF.
