Transition To Middle School
- It has come to CHILD's attention that some of the permission forms were inadvertently delivered to the wrong schools after the forms were distributed home. If your permission form names a school that your child DOES NOT CURRENTLY ATTEND, please accept our apologies as you have the wrong forms. NOT TO WORRY - Your child's Transition Program will take place at the school they actually attend and your help is needed to do the following to the form you do have : If you have the wrong form, just cross out the school name on it and write your child's actual school instead. Also, cross out the day and dates that are on this form and write in the correct dates in their place. Click here for the schedule of events... Completed parent corrected forms can be returned to their child's school's main office. If you have any questions please call 908.322.4020 This spring, the Municipal Alliance Committee (MAC) and The C.H.I.L.D. Organization of Scotch Plains Fanwood is once again offering an After-School enrichment program to ALL fourth-grade children who will be transitioning from elementary school to middle school. The middle school environment can place greater academic and social expectations on our children. Talking and role playing about these challenges in a supportive environment can help children anticipate and cope with these expectations. This After-School Kids Program runs 1 day per week after school for two weeks. See below for specific dates for your school. Counselors from Resolve will facilitate the program aimed at preparing our children for Middle School and the ‘Teen Scene’. Topics will include: Balancing Homework and Social Life, Family Responsibilities, Peer Pressure, Making and Keeping Friendships, Respecting Each Others Differences and How to Handle Bullying. Participation is FREE and Voluntary. Registration is limited to 20 students, on a first-come, first-served basis. If you think your fourth grader would benefit and be interested in this program, please complete the registration form you received from your child's school. Forms were distributed to home via backpacks. RSVP IS REQUIRED - Please RSVP by returning the signed forms to your child’s teacher or you can drop it off at your school’s main office. You will be called to confirm student participation before the program begins. Also, please note that for security reasons, you or another responsible adult must “sign out” your child at the end of each session. Also, parents may want to send along a small neat snack for after school. PLEASE NOTE - For parents only, there will be a 1 hour summary to help you empower your child during the summer. Parent Summary will be held at Park Middle School on Tues. May 20 from 7-8PM and again at Terrill Middle School on Wed. May 21 also from 7-8PM Whatever school your 4th Grader attends is where your child's program is being held.
