About Us The C.H.I.L.D. Organization, a national group, is all about helping Children Having Individual Learning Differences - which is the premise for C.H.I.L.D. The C.H.I.L.D. Organization - Scotch Plains Fanwood is a State Chapter. We are a nonprofit organization, which dedicates itself to providing advocacy, help, resources and supports to children and their families where there is a learning difference, challenge or disability. Working
in cooperation with Scotch Plains Fanwood School District and
their Department of Special Education, C.H.I.L.D., formerly LDA
of SPF, has provided input to the district concerning issues
and policies concerning students with disabilities for over 32 years. Our executive officers, provide rich and various backgrounds that continually benefit C.H.I.L.D. and the children and families they help. Click for our officer listing. All of what C.H.I.L.D. accomplishes is due greatly to the help of all our volunteers. At times, more help is needed because there is only so much one group can do. Those interested in helping should please contact Jules Shapiro at 908.322.4020. C.H.I.L.D. works in cooperation with, but is not limited to, School Districts and their Departments, Parent and Teacher Associations, Resolve and the Municipal Alliance Coalition (MAC). The C.H.I.L.D. Chapter of Scotch Plains Fanwood have planned programs for parents, caregivers, teachers and professionals for this school year. Program workshops are open to all. Workshops are designed to also provide Professional Development Hours for Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for registered professionals and teachers.
